This summer has been an exciting one for many of our sisters. From traveling abroad to staying home and working awesome internships, Alpha Chi's have been all over the world. This is the beginning of a summer series highlighting our sisters who are out doing cool things. This week, we are focusing on a few of our girls who have spent the first part of their summer traveling abroad in Europe! Kaitlin McPheetersKaitlin spent three weeks traveling through Munich, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, London, Edinburgh, Scotland, Craigavon, Northern Ireland, and Dublin. "I went on the trip because my friends and I had a common dream of seeing the world. I've always wanted to see Europe and I couldn't think of a better time to do it than in college before I have a career. I love to travel and I thought it was time that I take a chance and explore the world on my own (that is, without parents)." "My favorite city was London with Amsterdam being a close second. I've always loved London because of the music, literature (Harry Potter obviously), and the accents. London was the city that felt most like home to me. I fell in love with the culture, but above all the people. Its a city that is always moving and there's always a new adventure to be had." What was your favorite food you ate while abroad? "I've been asked this question many times and I always answer saying that my favorite food depended on the country. In Paris I had the best Italian and Mexican food I've ever eaten, but both of those were just as good as a baguette on the Eiffel Tower lawn. In Brussels, the waffles, mitraillette (giant sandwich), and fries were incredible. In Scotland, the breakfast was out of this world. Amsterdam can give America's burgers a run for their money. And there's nothing like tea and Nando's in England. My favorite meal of all was at La Petit Bordelais in Paris. I had a 5 course meal of five star French food which was easily one of the best meals of my entire life." Audra Reeves and Sarah Beth RobersonAudra and Sarah Beth traveled on a study abroad program through Auburn to London, England. While there, they traveled to Bath, Stonehenge, Oxford and Brighton, as well as to Paris. "We went on a Communications and Journalism trip with Auburn with the College of Liberal Arts. This was a 3 hour credit course and we met with various broadcasting businesses and public relations firms." What was your favorite part of the trip? "We met Bradley Cooper twice and that was really fun! Going to the top of the Eiffel Tower was an amazing experience as well. Our group was in the background of a live BBC broadcast and we got to tour their newsroom." What was your favorite food you tried while in Europe? "MACAROONS!!!! (and fish and chips)" - Audra Kelcie HallKelcie's parents live in Italy so she spent a couple of weeks with them traveling through Italy, Croatia, and Greece "My favorite place we went was Split, Croatia. The city center is built inside Diocletian's palace, which was built in the 4th century AD. It's such a beautiful city and there's so much history behind it!" "My favorite food was absolutely the pasta, I think I may have gained 20 pounds in the two weeks we were there." "Having my parents live in Europe while I'm in college has been such an adventure! It is hard sometimes trying to keep in touch with a 7 hour time difference, but between Skype and texting it's not so bad! I've also been able to visit them a few times now, and I've been able to take friends over twice. Italy has become my home away from home, and I can't really complain about that! Caroline StanphillCaroline spent a few weeks this summer traveling through London, Munich, Barcelona, Positano, Rome, and Capri. What were your favorite parts of the trip? "My favorite things we did were probably the Harry Potter Tour and also a boat we took out on the coast of Italy." What was your favorite city to travel to? "Oh my gosh, I don't know if I can choose just one. I would probably have to say my two favorite cities were Barcelona and London."
