What is your favorite thing about your position?

I love working on Alpha Chi of the Week and making the personalized blog posts. It’s such a fun way to highlight girls in the chapter and get to know them better! However, my favorite part part of my position over the last year was making the Recruitment videos with Condra Lee Carter, one of my friends in Alpha Chi! I loved filming the girls throughout the week and capturing their fun personality and excitement.
Picture
What have you learned since being in this role?

Being on exec is very much a team effort. Nothing ever just happens. This role has made me appreciate all of the little things and events we put on. It is so cool to work with girls so passionate about what we do, and willing to help in any way to make our chapter better.
Picture
What is your favorite movie and why?

"She’s the Man" is my favorite movie!  It’s so funny and I can watch it a thousand times without it ever getting old. I also played soccer growing up and appreciate her dedication to the sport.
Picture
What is your favorite thing about Greek life?

I've learned that the relationships formed within the Greek system are very important. It's so cool and unique to have a network of women who will help and support you. In terms of events, I love a good social and formals are my favorite. I also appreciate how Auburn Greek life is very inclusive. I'm so thankful for all the close relationships I have with girls in other sororities and that our letters don't define us.
Picture
What is an interesting fact about yourself?

I was actually born in Guam and lived there for the first six years of my life. My parents were missionaries and plated two churches. I will always be an island girl and I hate the cold. That’s why I appreciate Auburn’s warm weather!
Picture
What's your favorite thing about game day?

Dancing to songs from the Jumbotron. And the occasional rushing of the field. War Eagle!!
Picture
Where would you like to live when you graduate?

I'm not exactly sure, but I've always thought Nashville would be cool, or Malibu or Charleston. I don't want to live in a giant city, but something in the middle would be cool!

What has been your favorite Alpha Chi social and why?

I always look forward to War Damn America every year!  It is the first social we have after we get back from Christmas break, and it is so fun to be reunited with everyone after being separated for a month.  People always go all out with the theme, so it makes for a really great event.
Picture
What has been the most rewarding thing you have done at Auburn so far?

When I was a sophomore, I was part of a club called Auburn Mentoring Program.  The program pairs college students with a student at a local elementary school around Auburn, and the college student mentors the child.  I was paired with a 7 year old boy, and we ate lunch together every week, and we would play board games and read books. We would celebrate holidays together too, like Halloween and Christmas, and I was able to bring him candy and presents. He found joy in the smallest things, and that brought so much joy to my life.
Picture
What's your hidden talent?

I'm not sure if you would call this a talent, but I can rap every single word to "All the Above" by Maino. So when they play it in before the fourth quarter at football games, I have my own little hype up in the stands as the team does on the field. People that don't know me probably think I'm crazy. It also makes for a really good song to get you through a workout, too.
Picture
What's a life lesson you've learned since freshman year?

Don't take life (or school) too seriously. You only have four years in college, and you have to make the most of your time here. Go to every swap, social, and event there is. Take random road trips with your friends at the last minute.  If you're having a bad day, eat some ice cream.  I promise it makes things better.  Sacrifice sleep to make memories. And most importantly, know it is okay to laugh at yourself when you mess up!
Picture
If a dance move was named after you, what would it be called?

The Bailey Byrne It Down. I'm not sure how it came about, but my friends gave me this nickname in high school. I am honestly not that great of a dancer, but I pretend to be anyway, so the Bailey Byrne It Down seems pretty fitting.
Picture
What are you most looking forward to next year?

Well, I am currently trying to pretend that I don't have to be an adult in the real world with an actual job next year.  Four years at Auburn has gone by way too fast! I can't begin to imagine what post-grad will be like without all of my friends in one place, and I know my pledge class is going to have some of the best reunions, so I am really looking forward to those.  Whether its football games or beach weekends, I know that we are going to have the best time reuniting and catching up with each other and seeing where life outside of Auburn takes us.

We hear you love accounting! Why are you passionate about it?

As we all know I am very passionate about accounting! (go debits and credits!!) I really enjoy being able to figure out how to solve a problem and making sure that it is following the correct rules and regulations. Accounting makes me so happy because it correctly displays your financials. Financials are the back bone of everything we do. We need to know how to correctly use and protect our finances to be successful in life!
Picture
What is your favorite memory from being on exec?

Wow, I have so many! Well I have a lot of wonderful memories with these girls but my favorite memory is probably when Victoria, Colleen, Bonnie (our fabulous advisor) and I got to wear Alpha Chi crowns at our alumni dinner! It was a great time if you ask me.
Picture
How would you describe your position?

As the VP finance - Accounts receivable I bill all of the members for dues, fines, and miscellaneous items. I get to help the members of Alpha Chi learn how to use BillHighWay and to pay their bills in a timely manor.
Picture
What is your favorite thing about Alpha Chi?

My favorite thing about Alpha Chi is that we have some of the most genuine and talented ladies in Auburn! The sisterhood is real here!
Picture
If you could be any food, what would it be and why?

If I could be any food it would be probably be Amsterdam lobster egg rolls. They are so fabulous. It is a must have if you go to Amsterdam Cafe.

VP of Intellectual Development

Picture
Why did you decide to run for this position?

I decided to run for this position because academics are very important to me and I love encouraging and supporting others in their academic endeavors. I have always loved helping others and even chose a career that is dedicated to serving others. After watching the previous Executive Board lead the chapter, I knew I wanted to serve the chapter in some way. I chose Vice President of Intellectual Development because I find genuine joy in helping others succeed in their classes and watching members achieve their academic endeavors and goals.
Picture
What things have you learned since being in this role?

I have learned several things since being in this role, but in particular I have learned how dedicated our members are in their academics as well as campus involvement. We have the best members who do it all! I honestly do not know how these girls lead so well on the Student Government Association, campus ministries, Freshman Leadership Programs, etc. and still make time for their academics. Our members are very well-rounded individuals and academically driven. It is a pleasure to serve such smart, talented girls.
Picture
What has Alpha Chi meant to you these past two years?

Alpha Chi Omega has been such a blessing by providing me with some of the best lifelong friendships. I have met friends who encourage and challenge me daily to be the best version of myself. These girls constantly listen to me and support me in everything. I am so thankful Alpha Chi provided me with a community of girls who strengthen and inspire one another.
Picture
What is the best thing about your job?

The best thing about my job is seeing others be successful in their academics, internships, and future careers. It is so cool to see a member achieve their academic goal or to receive the grade that they were hoping for. Our members are very academically driven and it is a pleasure to serve such dedicated women.
Picture
Where is your favorite place to study and why?

My favorite place to study is the fourth floor of the library. Some people find this floor to be scary, but I love it. I found my spot on the fourth floor shortly into my freshman year and have been faithful to it ever since. I am a very dedicated person, but I also love to talk, so the fourth floor is perfect for me with few distractions. The best part about this floor, is all the people I have met on the fourth floor. I know it seems crazy since it is the quiet floor, but I have met several friends who faithfully study on the fourth floor. It is always nice to take a break and go visit with them quietly!
Picture
What tips would you give an incoming freshman trying to receive a 4.0?

There are several tips I would give an incoming freshman trying to achieve a 4.0. First, it is so important that you make academics a priority. Your future is so important; therefore, you have to take it seriously from day one of Freshman year. Also, use all the resources on Auburn’s campus and never be afraid to go see your teacher in office hours. Auburn offers a lot of resources to help their students, so take advantage of things like the Miller Writing Center and Supplemental Instruction (SI). Finally, never let a single grade define you. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed by all that college has to offer, but everything will work out. These are the best years of your life, so enjoy them!
Picture
If you could have any super power what would it be?

If I could have any super power, I would be able to get enough sleep, studying done and spend time with friends all in one college day. When I went to college one of my high school teachers told me that it was impossible to get enough sleep, study enough to keep your grades up and spend time with friends all in one day. She told me I would have to choose two out of the three every day. I didn’t believe her at the time, but since being in college I've realized how true her statement was. A superpower that allowed me to do all three would be nice, but until then balance is key!

What has been your favorite event from Alpha Chi?

My favorite Alpha Chi event has been being a part of recruitment over the past two years. Each year, I've had the opportunity to meet so many new people and it's cool to see how we grew closer as a chapter throughout the week. It's a long and emotional week, but when I look back on it I am very thankful for the friendships I have made through Alpha Chi. Recruitment is such a sweet reminder of that!
Picture
What are your positions in Alpha Chi?

I am the T-Shirt Business Chair and the Recording Secretary. My role as the T-Shirt Business chair is to help out the T-Shirt chair with ordering all the items everyone wants and to make sure everyone has what they ordered. As for my role as Recording Secretary, I take the attendance for each event Alpha Chi holds. Basically I make sure everyone is up to date on chapter happenings, because as we all know- everyone is crazy busy!
Picture
Picture
What have you learned since being in Auburn?

Over the past three years at Auburn, I have learned so many things. The main thing that I have learned is that hard work pays off. If you strive your hardest to reach your goals, everything is going to work out in your favor. All it takes is hard work and dedication!
Picture
What is one of your most proud accomplishments?

The accomplishment I’m most proud of is getting accepted into Pharmacy School here at Auburn. It has been my goal since high school to go to Pharmacy School so I have been striving to achieve that goal since the beginning of college. Finding out I got in was one of the best days ever because I knew that everything I worked so hard for finally paid off!
Picture
What is a fun fact about yourself?

I am in the top 100 celebrities in the Kim Kardashian video game! If you see me I’m probably playing it whenever I have free time, which is a lot recently!

What is something you could not live without?

I definitely couldn't live without my friends and family. If we're being honest, I go home to see my family way too much! If I have a weekend off you can bet I'm going to be in Birmingham- I'm such a homebody!

Picture
What is something you are passionate about?

I am so passionate about living life to its fullest every single day. I have had battles with epilepsy, which many people don't know about me, but because of that I have learned that you never know when something could change. Alpha Chi has helped me to live the life I want to live. There is no point in getting caught up in materialistic things or drama. As long as you are happy and sharing that with others, you will prevail. My friends in Alpha Chi help me to do so, encouraging me to be a "Real, Strong Woman", and leading me to Christ more and more every day.
Picture
How has being in Alpha Chi changed your college experience?

Being an Alpha Chi, I have gotten more out of my college experience than I could've ever dreamt of. I not only found the friends I was looking to find in a sorority, but girls that push me to be the best version of myself. Alpha Chi has lifted me up at all times, pushing me to be the real, strong woman that our sorority promotes. Without Alpha Chi, I feel as though I'd be lost- trying to be someone I'm not. I'm forever grateful that I can be myself 100% of the time and always feel comfortable when I walk through our chapter room doors!
Picture
What are you most excited for Sophomore year?

Sophomore year I am looking forward to growing as a person and working hard to better myself with the support of my friends and family. I'm excited to meet new people in our chapter, (especially the new members!!!) and form deeper relationships with my friends.
Picture

If someone played you in a movie, who would it be and why?

Blake lively! She is so real, and I have always admired that about her. She has her celebrity-work life but she also has her personal life, and from what I've seen she truly values her family. I love her!
Picture
Where is your happy place?

My happy place 100% is at home. I am a family girl through and through, and although I love Auburn and all of my friends, I am constantly homesick. Auburn and Alpha Chi have been so great in stretching and pushing me to get out my comfort zone and reminding me that I have a home here, too!

What is your favorite thing about serving as Epsilon Zeta's president?

My favorite thing about being President is just the honor in itself of leading this amazing group of women we have in Alpha Chi! I’m so thankful to play a part in bringing all of our uniquely different women together in one place for friendship and fellowship. It’s been such a fun experience so far, and I absolutely love every second! It's the biggest privilege to be able to serve these ladies!
Picture
What are you most looking forward to in the fall?

This fall I am most looking forward to meeting our new members! After serving as New Member Educator last year, the incoming new members of Alpha Chi hold a very special place in my heart! I love that entirely new adventure they get to experience and I can’t wait to welcome the new gals into our sweet sisterhood! We just have so many exciting things to look forward to this upcoming fall semester!
Picture
Who is your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspiration is definitely my oldest sister Rebekah. She is the smartest, kindest, most humble person I have ever known. She is by far my best friend and biggest mentor. I am inspired by her drive and dedication to pursue anything she sets her mind to! Even though she was a majorette, Alpha Chi, and Honors Student at the University of Alabama--she was my biggest cheerleader when I made the decision to attend Auburn University. God’s love is so evident in her and she has impacted my life more than she knows! I just hope to be half the woman she has grown to be!

Picture
What is your favorite memory from Alpha Chi?

My favorite memory from Alpha Chi most definitely has to be the Junior Cruise my pledge class went on this past spring break! We had THE BEST time just goofing around and spending time together for an entire week cruising to the Bahamas! We shared so many laughs, a thousand random dance parties, one too many karaoke concerts, a bottle of aloe vera, an ice-cold snorkeling experience, and an embarrassing amount of trips to the all you can eat buffet! We all grew so much closer together and I am so thankful for such an amazing group of friends! ILYSM PC14!
Picture
What are your plans after graduation?

My plans after graduation are still pretty undecided. All I know is that whatever I do, I want to be able to serve those less fortunate than I am. I have a passion for helping others and I’d love the opportunity to do international mission work after graduation! I know the Lord has a bigger plan for me than I could ever come up with myself. I’m keeping a very open mind and am excited to see what He has in store for my future!

Meet our VP Recruitment | Harper Bode

Picture
Harper Bode
VP of Recruitment

Senior
Hometown: Orlando, FL
Major: International Business
Picture
Harper is the most selfless and loyal girl I know! It doesn't matter if she has a million different things going on, she will do whatever it takes to help you and be there for you. She is so good at making everyone feel important, loved, and comfortable. WIth so much on her plate, she's still so intentional and makes an effort to get to know people on a genuine level. Harper is also so funny! She's so goofy and witty and she can make you laugh even on the worst days. I've been so blessed to have Harper as a Big, and to look up to her. She's such an amazing example of a real strong woman! -Hannah Lally
Harper is one of the absolute best people that I know. She is thoughtful, encouraging, and one of those people that everyone always wants to be around. She has worked so so hard on recruitment and she does it with a smile on her face and an amazing attitude. I couldn't be happier to assist her with recruitment, not only because I know she has put so much effort into this and is so excited for it, but also because I have the privilege of calling her one of my very best friends. She's the greatest and we are so incredibly lucky to have her lead Alpha Chi! Love you Harp! -Julia Kimbrough
What is your major/hometown?

I was born and raised in good ole “O-Town” (Orlando, Florida)! No, sadly I don't get to go to Disney World all to much (although that would be nice) but I do live about 45 minutes from the beach which has been one of my favorites things about growing up in Florida. I somehow managed to be one of the rare cases of people to stick with the same major all four years, but I’m an International Business Major with a concentration in Spanish and Marketing.
Picture
Why did you decide to run for VP of Recruitment?

Over these past three years, Alpha Chi has given me more than I could imagine: the best support system, the goofiest friends, hysterical memories and some of my deepest friendships. Thank goodness the world works in crazy ways because, I decided to run for assistant recruitment last year. I had the absolute privilege of serving alongside one of my greatest friends and got the opportunity to help show potential new members why this chapter is so special and unique. I am so thankful for that time and so thankful it showed me how passionate I am about Alpha Chi, so with that I decided to for run for this position.
Picture
What advice would you give to someone going through recruitment?

Just breathe. Take a depth breath, have fun and be nothing but yourself. It’s so easy to get caught up in everything that comes along with this week but don't forget to pause and take a moment to take everything in. I wanted to find the place that made me feel at home and comfortable as myself, and for me that was and will always be Alpha Chi. This is one of the most fun and exciting weeks and you are given such a great opportunity to make so many friends. Invest in the conversations and get to know the girls you’re talking to- because I can speak for everyone when I say they couldn’t be more excited to meet YOU!

Picture
What is the best part about your position?

Hanging out with 250 of the greatest people for about two weeks straight!!! Over these past 8 months I have gotten know and love how different and unique each Alpha Chi is. There is nothing more rewarding than serving and working alongside the girls that have given me so much more than just these past three years of college. These two weeks are full of hard work (and a whole lot of laughing and dancing!) and make for the best build up to one of the most exciting weeks of the year. Alpha Chi has been the coolest thing to watch evolve and change over the past three years and just like anything with age, it just gets better and better! I couldn’t be more excited to get to know the new members and create memories that will last longer than my time at Auburn.

Picture
If your life was a song, what would it be?

‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’ by Whitney Houston, I love to dance! Although I was not graced with the coordination of a real trained dancer, maaaan am I always down to dance. This song always gets me in the mood. Some of my favorite memories have been dancing to this song in between recruitment parties last year or  in my house with the 4 Alpha Chi girls I live with. (Probably while embarrassing myself in front of the people who live across the street from us!) But none the less it’s my favorite song!
Picture
If you could have a superpower for a day, what would it be?

I wish I could fly because I always wish I could be everywhere at once!! There are so many fun things to do in Auburn and so many people to see, father time just doesn't seem to be on my side. Ha!
Picture
If you had to order take-out right now, what would you get?

Gaahh I can get down with some good take out! My family and I love to try new and different foods, so my answer might sound a little interesting, but Indian food is my jam!!

What exactly do you do in your position?

I oversee the budget and distribute checks as needed. I make sure Alpha Chi is in good financial heath and handle aspects of banking and record keeping!
Picture
What was your favorite memory on the Exec retreat?

My favorite memory on Exec retreat would definitely be the making of our music video. We each dressed up and did silly things that coordinated with our positions. Seriously have never laughed so hard and I love how we all became so close in two short days!
Picture
Why did you choose Alpha Chi?

I love when I am asked this question because I could talk about Alpha Chi all day. I chose Alpha Chi Omega because every time I was in an Alpha Chi party during rush I didn't want to leave. The conversations I had in stood out from all the others and I knew from the first day of recruitment that I wanted to be an Alpha Chi Omega! Still to this day I am so happy with my decision. Alpha Chi has brought me my best friends for life and I am so thankful for that!
Picture
What are you most looking forward to in your Junior year?

I am looking forward to coming home from class to a house full of four of my best friends! We are so excited to all finally get to live together for our last two years of college!
Picture
What is your secret talent?

I would say that my secret talent would be that I can eat an entire lemon without making a sour face. I actually enjoy eating them! In fact, I eat them so often that I don't think twice about it anymore until I get confused looks from people and then I have to explain myself!
